I recall 'The Arrival' as being a pretty fun, popcorn flick -- possibly underappreciated, although I haven't watched it since it was in theaters. 'Arrival' had interesting concepts of aliens and alien language, but other than that was just a string of distracting blockbuster/sci-fi movie cliches. I think the '96 movie was better for what it was, even if lacking the aspirations of the the 2016 movie.
