I remember when it came out, it was being heralded as a baton relay of sorts from The Matrix.
I think The Matrix holds up stronger over time, sans sequels.
There was a box office thread where I couldn't believe how many franchises & sequels were in the worldwide top 100. Legit shoutout Inception for delivering such an original premise so finely tuned & executed, even if subsequent viewings aren't as grand.
