Empire would be a really dumb name, esp for the CFL. As for 2020, the league keeps asking the feds for all the monies in the world... which is kinda like the CFL every year.
Edmonton Empire. Ewwwwwwww. Unless they want mundane, like the Edmonton Eagles (sorry treefrog), might have to go in a different Direction.
One I seen was Metis. The Metis were mixed French Canadian and Cree Indian people who fought a nasty little war with the Canadian government in 1885. The Metis call themselves "Metis". Depends if you look at the North-West Rebellion as a civil war or something like The Great Sioux War of 1876
