Probably accurate. I haven't read the book, but it was readapted into season 2 or 3 of Hannibal the show and sucked there as well. Hasn't Harris basically said he was trolling with it? Or at least playing to people who saw Lambs as a tragic romance, ie not me. I haven't read it either, but someone I know read it and told me what happens in it. It said that the novel was written for the main purpose of becoming a movie. I don't see The Silence of the Lambs movie as a tragic romance either. The Hannibal novel apparently goes in that direction as well, with Hannibal Lecter kidnapping Clarice and keeping her constantly drugged so that they can live "happily" ever after. GTFO. Yeah, Hannibal and Rising were both written for the sake of just making a movie and continuing to profit off from the Hannibal character because Hopkins was so well received. I really like Hannibal, but the stuff between Hannibal and Clarice in that film really undermines Silence. He specifically said he had no intentions of pursuing Clarice in Silence (probably speaking both literally eating or romantically pursuing her) and he clearly just respects her enough as a worthy adversary who is more interesting alive.
