I generally love his visual style, but not his movies. His only movie I like is Delicatessen. My least favorite of his movies are Alien: Resurrection (I hate the cinematography here though) followed closely by Amelie. I quite like City of Lost Children and Delicatessen. I do think the photography works a little better for those twisted fantasy worlds. I agree that Alien: Resurrection was just damn ugly, although it had one or two elements of merit (I’d take it over Amelie). I am willing to give Amelie a second chance, but I'd rather re-watch Alien: Resurrection tbh. I have watched it multiple times, because I use to like it. I re-watched it again 10 years ago after not watching it in a long time and I thought to myself, "why did you use to like this movie?" I still like many movies I liked as a teenager that most people would say are bad movies (Eraser, Anaconda etc.), but Alien: Resurrection I was not able to still like as an adult. I was 14 when Alien: Resurrection was released.
