I called my dermatologist when this "regime" began, early in the year. I'm given to outbreaks of eczema, and the one time I tried Purell it hurt like hell ... and, I only had a couple of little bumps.
She told me not to use hand sanitizers, at all. She sent me a few little packets of alcohol pads soaked in alcohol (I ordered more), and told me to use it on my palms, which don't break out, and on the backs of my hands if I have no signs of eczema. She also said to use them sparingly.
I "bit the bullet," and touched an alcohol pad to a little red-patch, and found that it didn't hurt a bit. I had assumed that the alcohol in Purell had caused the pain. So, God knows what goes into those mixtures of commercial hand sanitizers, that hurt when there is a break in the skin.
I found the packets on Amazon, but they're probably in most of the Walgreen's/CVS types of stores. They're easy to carry, and to use.
