Cotton could have gone either way for me, though I'm guessing if 2 ended as originally intended, Cotton would have come back in 3 masterminding everything from inside prison (an idea Williamson had for Stu that was then scrapped entirely until he made The Following). Much better movie.
But if nothing else, Derek and Hallie would have been a lot better than Mickey. The shady film student with 8 lines? Not very inspired.
