A Sound of Thunder is indeed one of the worst 'real' movies ever made. It's bad to a point that it's absolutely a favorite amongst some of my friends. We still quote some of the shockingly absurd dialogue to this day. The fact that real actors are in something that looks so cheap and horrible makes it that much funnier.
I don't know that it was trying to be a horror movie really, but it's stunningly terrible.
A Sound of Thunder (2005) is a "science fiction thriller" that was based on a 1952 "science fiction" short story written by Ray Bradbury... and in 1989 it was featured in an episode of the anthology TV Series: "The Ray Bradbury Theater"

It seems it was originally meant to be a Science Fiction story, and not a Horror story.
