I don't get this talking point. She's American. She's black (partially). Jamaica's blacks come from Africa. They were British brought slaves from the continent just like the United States' slaves were. So why are people saying she's not African-American? I mean if you go by origin or origin of origin, then we're all African American. She's not. She's a black lady or a Jamacian/Indian American but she's definitely not African American. Charilize Theron is more African American than she is. She's of direct African ancestry (as opposed to me, the most Caucasian person you'll ever meet despite the fact that homo sapiens evolved in Africa) and was born and raised in the US. Hence, African-American. Saying she isn't African-American sounds like a right wing ploy to try to push black voters away from her.
