It did well, made over 4 times it's budget, it was an independent movie, $25m for a indie flick is actually good, doing good or bad depends on it's budget to box office ratio, not simply how much a movie grosses.

it got a wide release. Even though a indie distributor they treated as a bigger film, that is why it is seen as a failure, once you add 15m marketing it made no money
