The ending of the Shawshank Redemption, with Morgan Freeman's character meeting Tim Robbins's character on the beach in Mexico. The director, Frank Darabont, wanted to end the movie as the novella on which it's based ended, with Red (Freeman's character) setting out to Mexico HOPING to find his friend, but with some ambiguity over whether or not he actually does.
