And not Alex Verdugo? He's not going to be Markus Betts but he will be a good player, maybe All-Star. They are hitting better, excepting JD (I think he's seen better days but he will drain payroll for the next two years). Kevin Plawecki has been a find. But the pitching is amazingly bad. And won't get much better. E-Rod comes back next year and that a plus. So does Sale and that might not be a plus. I think Sale is past his sell by date. And there's nothing on the horizon. Why they couldn't have got one pitching prospect for Betts is beyond me. Might take 2-3 years for the Red Sox to be back to WS caliber. Shit happens. There was a large price to pay for 2018. The Yankees went through the same thing after 2012. I hope management is patient and don't throw money at iffy free agents just for December headlines.
Sox currently at a .341 winning percentage. You have to go back to 1932 (43-111, .271 WP) to see a team this bad.
verdugo is a good one too, no doubt.
