Who's in charge of the medical procedures with the Los Angeles Chargers, Frank Burns? (Hoping someone gets the reference) Your thoughts..... Frank Burns in the movie actually caused a soldier's death and Frank turned and blamed it on an orderly. I enjoyed the Frank in the TV series. The movie one was a vile person. Plus he was a Bible-thumper. Not really an interesting character. TV Frank was a cartoon....and that's what made him funny as hell. They made him real in one episode - the one where Major Houlihan gets married. As she is flying off with her husband, Frank stands there all alone, watches her go hands in pockets and says sadly to himself, "Bye, Margaret." Great moment. But then they brought in Major Winchester. Was funny for a bit....but we all missed Frank and the stupidity and hijinks the show built around him. Show got too serious after Frank left. There's another cool Frank Burns moment in the episode where Margaret announces her engagement. In the mess tent, she is endlessly blabbering about Donald, and Frank asks Hawkeye and BJ about a young nurse that he has his eyes on. Margaret asks Frank if isn't she a bit too young to be asking out, and Frank responds that he would like to try a younger model for a change. Margaret goes off in a snit, and Frank actually shares a genuine laugh with Hawk and BJ. A very cool moment that maybe should have happened more on the show. And btw, Winchester was a better character than Frank. The show wasn't better in the Winchester years, but he wasn't the problem. A much more well rounded character than Frank who could also hold his own against Hawkeye, which was better for the show.
