There's another cool Frank Burns moment in the episode where Margaret announces her engagement. In the mess tent, she is endlessly blabbering about Donald, and Frank asks Hawkeye and BJ about a young nurse that he has his eyes on. Margaret asks Frank if isn't she a bit too young to be asking out, and Frank responds that he would like to try a younger model for a change. Margaret goes off in a snit, and Frank actually shares a genuine laugh with Hawk and BJ. A very cool moment that maybe should have happened more on the show. And btw, Winchester was a better character than Frank. The show wasn't better in the Winchester years, but he wasn't the problem. A much more well rounded character than Frank who could also hold his own against Hawkeye, which was better for the show. Yes, I remember that scene. And maybe if Larry Linville had remained we could have gotten more of that. Frank could still have been a jerk, but he could have been more human. But then again, I didn't want that. Hell, I loved it when the guys watched Frank's home movies and laughed their asses off. Frank walks in, "You picked a bad time to watch a dirty movie!" I didn't dislike Winchester. Yes, the show needed a stronger foil than Frank for Hawkeye and BJ. It's just that I loved the early episodes because they were insanely funny with really crazy comedy. Henry's desk going up, up, up and away. General MacArthur saluting Klinger in his Statue Of Liberty get up. Crap like that was laugh out loud funny. What a way to end an episode: I agree that the early Trapper/Henry years were the best, and the first couple of seasons with BJ/Potter were just as good. I've said this before in other threads, basically with MASH, it's all about BJ's moustache. Once that moustache showed up, things got a lot more hit or miss on MASH.
