and no power if you have electric cars And CA just passed a law to quit selling gasoline powered cars?... in what (2045?) And as a side, note... It's going to take weeks to rebuild Louisiana's power grid due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Laura I too may not know much about electric cars, but I think all this raises a major dilemma... How you charge your electric cars if the power grid is not working for weeks or even longer? Is getting rid of gasoline powered cars such a good idea, if you won't be able to use electric cars to evacuate a major disaster area that involves 100s of square miles? If we want to go gas-less, I think we better start investing in solar powered recharging stations... They won't be sold anymore after 2035 which is still a long way from now. By then cars will easily have more range than gas vehicles and it's plenty of time to add capacity to the grid. Throw in all the people that have or will have rooftop solar and battery storage by then and we'll be fine.
