The Golden State Warriors are not, in theory, the top contenders for the 2021 NBA championship. Depending on which sportsbook you consult, their odds at winning a title fall somewhere within the top 10, almost always behind the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.
But according to OddsChecker, which compiles betting data across all legal oddsmakers, the Warriors have received more wagers to win next year's NBA Finals than any other team — and it's not all that close.
OddsChecker says roughly 37% of wagers have come in on the Warriors, who are expected to field a healthy lineup again and have some roster flexibility with their pending No. 2 overall pick in November's NBA Draft. The second-most wagers (22%) are actually directed at the Brooklyn Nets; with Kevin Durant back, they'll have an easier path to a potential Finals matchup coming out of the Eastern Conference.
At 20% are the defending champion Lakers — sportsbooks have assigned LeBron James and Co. the best odds (+400) at winning it all next season, but bettors apparently aren't enthralled by those numbers. The Milwaukee Bucks, who had the best record in the NBA in 2019-20 but fell apart in the playoffs, are getting around 5% of wagers on the 2021 championship. The rest of the league combines for 16% of wagers.

Warriors vs. Nets would be tremendous theater
Unfortunately - I think it has like a 2% chance of happening - I think the Nets implode (although I can't wait to watch them)
I'm really intrigued with what they do with that #2 pic. Rumors all over the place they're going to package it with another player (Wiggins) to try to get a position of need in.
They need a '5' to compete with the Lakers. I'd love to ditch Horford and the #21 pick for Wiggins.
Would be a win/win for both parties.
