Project Zero (Fatal Frame in the US) scared the living daylights out of me. I really wish they'd port those games to PS3/4. Or PC. Damn Sony for removing backwards compatability for PS2 games.
I think Resident Evil 2 was the first survival horror I played, and that got me hooked to the genre. Silent Hill 2 is still among my absolute favourites, and I also really liked SH: the Room. I got my hands on Redisent Evil 1 and Silent Hill 1 rather late, and at that point I just couldn't get into them because the controls were too clunky.
Dead Space is great - no idea why I didn't finish it.
