Spielberg was a producer on Sea Quest.
The show was supposed to be a serious sciency thing but they changed it after the first season.
Scheider didn't sign up for that kind of show and wanted out-being replaced by Michael Ironside.
But if you look--Scheider dropped into low budget stuff after that.
Since we know Hollywood will piss away money when it feels like it--them ostracizing Scheider had nothing to do with profit loss
and I doubt he had a bad reputation before that given how many things he had done.
So they were mad.
Michael Keaton also got ostracized because he refused to do Batman 3 and you see what he primarily does now? Superhero stuff.
