It sounds like the sign that she was complaining about read "Fuck Trump" or something similar, in which case I agree with her - obscenities in a sign in public view (even if in private property) are not acceptable.
I agree vulgarities are a bad look - as the woman brought up - there could be children in the vicinity
Maybe a parent can use that as a learning lesson for the little one.
