What a sweet, precious movie this one is. I am a hardboiled sucker for unabashed sentiment and this movie has just that.
Bette Davis' character is one of my favorites. She's so good and not at all unrealistically so. The arc of the Charlotte Vale character is wonderful. When she decides to befriend the unhappy Tina, explaining very gently that in order for the young girl to be liked by others, Tina will need to start liking people. Such intelligence presented so sweetly. I just love their little friendship.
The movie is a tearjerker in the very best sense of the term.
Who else likes this movie?
