I don't know how many outside of NY metro area heard of him. He is one of the most entertaining sportcasters. I have listened to him on WFAN since the 90s when he started doing overnight, then moved to the day time teaming up with Evan Roberts. Last Friday was his last broadcast. What made him great was his passion about his team, especially his losing teams, the Knicks, the Mets, the Rangers, and most of all the Jets. His Jets rants are classic. When the Jets missed the playoff on the last game of the season, you will sure not disappointed at his rant. If his team wins, he can be poetically funny. One of the best opening monologue I remember was when the Knicks finally mad the final overnight. He went through the whole decade of the pain and torture that he suffered through watching the Knicks finally get to the big game. I never laughed so hard. Thanks Joe Benigno for all the joy you gave me listening to sport talk. You'll be missed on the radio.
