Wasn't he a caller that ultimately got promoted to the gig he got? Or am I thinking of someone else? I swear I thought one of the fan guys was a true success story like that, like that Eagles movie with Mark Wahlberg.
I didn't realize he was stepping down, but I trust he's actually retiring, as opposed to fatass Francessa who has retired 4 times now.

He was. I think he was calling in when he was in broadcasting school, so it's not the craziest leap, but still that's a very cool story.
I'm totally with you. I haven't listened to the Fan hardly at all of late and only just recently learned that he had his last show the other day. I'm sorry that I missed it. I now really have no reason whatsoever to listen unless there's a game on. Maybe late night if 'Shmooze' is on every once in a while.
What's worse is also that convicted felon and unspeakable dipshit Craig Carton is replacing him. Francessa was a ridiculous gas bag, but he was good for an unintentional laugh from time to time. No appeal to Carton whatsoever.
The Fan is pretty much over as far I'm concerned.
