i used to call in the NESN Red Sox spring training show on live TV in Florida, when they had Joel Hanrahan and quote Fletch: "Somebody's bucking for a promotion. Probably that pederast Hanrahan."
I got on the air once on WFAN, way back in 1988 or something, I talked to John Davidson about the Boston Bruins. He said that they preferred to discuss New York teams, but he humored me for about 5 minutes and we talked Bruins hockey.
I listened to the Fan a lot back then, it really was the first radio station of its kind. Imus was hilarious back then, he had just gotten out of rehab and now had to work at a mainly sports channel. He was so grumpy about discussing sports, real funny stuff.
I remember a Saturday afternoon when one of the regular guys was out sick, so they had this young guy named Chris Russo filling in. Within a half-hour, I knew this guy was gonna be a star. It was very soon before he had a regular shift, then eventually being paired with Mike Francesa.
