The height of species narcissism is more the idea that we are made specially, and in the image of God, or that we are a chosen people, or that we are treated with undue care and attention by the Cause of all reality. To say that God cannot be fathomed, or known, about is actually the agnostic position. The idea of an external God that created us in His own image and micromanages the world is silly to me. You are welcome to your opinion. Never the less many of the more credulous would disagree. I can't speak for all atheists, but I have no issue with the notion of a necessary Cause per se. It is more the unevidenced suggestion of whole new magical reality that is the issue. True; but it would be a start if one can at least understand the difference between agnosticism and atheism.
