Dead Reckoning 1947 directed James Cromwell. A crime noir starring Humphrey Bogart, Lizabeth Scott, Morris Carnovsky, William Prince and others. Rip Murdock (Bogart) and Johnny Darke (Prince) are en route to Washington when Johnny disappears and then turns up dead. Rip learns that Johnny had been accused of murder and sets out to find out what he can. He falls in love with Coral (Scott) whose husband Johnny is supposed to have killed. I've seen this movie many years ago and apparently forgotten most of what it was about. It's a rather confusing plot with many twists and turns before the end titles, and I'm not sure if I got all the clues right. It doesn't matter since I enjoyed watching it again anyway. A lesser Bogart is still better than no Bogart at all.
