I've never liked that blowhard* Patrick Stewart (and what's with such a strong English accent if he's French?); also not a big fan of Jonathan Frakes (uncanny valley!) or the whole Next Generation crew in general. So I only watched this to see Tom Hardy's performance.
Hardy did not disappoint.
But the story was nothing special. Could have been an extended episode from a tv series rather than a stand-alone major motion picture.
