I feel like he would've experimented with more auteurs. He would've definite;y kept pushing perhaps to work in more serious fare. I think he was heading towards more dramatic roles. I thought he was really good in Continental Divide, a low-key romantic comedy he did after The Blues Brothers. He pulled that role off quite nicely and naturally. It's also interesting that for his last film, Neighbors, he insisted that Dan Ackroyd play the goofy character and he played more of the straight guy. The role reversal didn't really work, that film was a total dud. I think Belushi had the tools to do all kinds of rolls, but let's face it, he would have had to have a serious lifestyle change to have made those things happen. he was also set to work with Malle.
