Id probably start with the hobbit and move into lord of the rings. Reason being, ive seen it the other way. So id be curious how well of a prequel the hobbit films really are to the lotr movies. You know like what easter eggs they drop, character moments that may be in both, etc. In Fellowship of the Ring, we briefly see the three trolls turned by stone. This makes more sense if you already saw the first Hobbit movie.
