Bottom line is it makes them more "reliable", genuine, and their message "real".
If they said that God "texted" them, who would believe it? If God wanted to speak to someone why text? Why not speak directly to them? That seems to always be the first question why not just have a direct communication? Why bother using some tool to write, or flashing images by their field of vision when just outright speaking would be much quicker?
