What's the thinking - since I'm thinking teams wouldn't be allowed to cross the border.
Just make a Canadian Division like you posted?
i.e. - Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver would just play against each other?
It's all but locked in. Ottawa Senators are really the only true bottom feeder this season, which should make all our matchups electrifying. There will be 2-3 game series like baseball for less travel & easier health management. I'm not certain how playoffs will work, likely a bubble somewhere in the US. Major League Soccer had Toronto, Vancouver, & Montreal playing one another for a month, before all relocating to the US. I think even the NFL is considering that btw - playoff bubble so not to fcuk up the Super Bowl. I'd be surprised if they have the Canadian teams play each other all season and then have them potentially playing American teams in the early rounds. I think they play each other for 2 rounds and the winner makes the league semis at which point they'll cross the border and play in a rink designated for them as a 'home' rink or the NHL will put the final 4 in a bubble at one rink.
All sorts of chatter about the NHL needing to be done the season before the Japan Olympics (because of American TV contracts) but are we really that certain we're getting an Olympics this year? And if they do go on and the NHL isn't done in time before them, how about they use the Olympics as their quarantine period and resume after?
