I don't think either of them are milquetoasts, but they are both very warm actors, but I can find Damon a bit dreary at times, or one note. I give McGregor the slight edge here, plus McGregor I find is also better looking in his middle age. Meh I think both look the same in their middle ages. I once saw Ewan on a morning show interview about birds of prey and he didn't look good at all. Damon has lost his cute boy looks, but has a more passive charisma about himself compared to McGregor, whose charm I find a little more forthright.
