Obama’s list wasn’t asked for, it was a tweet that was reported on.

He’s been doing it for a while.

There was a list when he ran for the Presidency, it just didn't catch fire with the public or even his supporters. It only had about 4 films on. One was 'Citizen Kane', another was 'Home Alone 2', but when asked by a reporter about 'Citizen Kane' he didn't seem to know anything about the movie, even though it's his all-time favourite.
