I guess per capita, I can attest. Toronto's US media avenue is Buffalo NY, & they'll run headline Bills stuff in f'n June if they can. To that point, it seems the Bills have gotta have one of the smaller groups of fans? I haven't run into a lot of Bills fans up here in Toronto area since the early 90's, & most ppl I know who are locked into the NFL have fandom of all sorts of teams... another reason why 'Bills in Toronto' games didn't fare, we're just not that Bills centric as geography might suggest. I always knew the Toronto games were a bad idea. No fans from NY were going up there. Everyone around here was afraid of the team moving up there permanently. And the Bills were so shitty and boring in those days that they weren't going to attract new fans or out of town fans.
It's an odd thing with us Bills fans. We really feel like were HAVE to support the team. We know damn well there are many many larger markets out there for an NFL franchise. It would rip the heart out of the area to see the Bills pack up and leave for San Antonio, Portland, Toronto, wherever. It scared the shit out of all the fans when Ralph Wilson died and we found out that the ironclad guarantee that the Bills would stay after he died wasn't so ironclad. For years, Buffalo rock stations wouldn't play Bon Jovi because he wanted to buy the Bills and move them to Toronto
The good news for Buffalo Bills fans, I read around that time of Wilson's death, the Trump rumour junk, etc... that New York state might not-so secretly never want the Bills out of Buffalo - lest NY be without an in-state NFL franchise for tax & business purposes... which I'm supposing the Jets & Giants run official business out of New Jersey. NFL vs. New York state would not be a war either side would want to endure.
