The DOUBLE INDEMNITY pass-over is a double injustice.
Barry Fitzgerald was double-nominated for GOING MY WAY, losing to Crosby as Lead but winning as Supporting.
If he had only been awarded one of the two (he did win the New York Film Critics Award as Lead) -- then MacMurray (as lead) or Robinson (as Support) might have received a deserved nomination.
The Academy disallowed that situation the following year.
