In which case would any unproven belief you can hold be rational, because it makes you happy? Why would one in a deity be any different? A belief is something one holds about things that can't be proven. So --- all beliefs are unproven. Or they would be classified as knowledge. Not beliefs. Yes, I agree but that does not answer the question why any belief is necessarily rational because it makes one happy.
