I think there is something more to it than just the election result. Trump supporters have been branded with every kind of label that a liberal who doesn't believe in labels can come up with, and I think a lot of those folks are a little sick of being calling Nazi's because they support a certain candidate.
There's also a LOT of growing frustration with lockdowns and businesses being closed, and to be honest, I think we're gonna see a lot more protests, potentially violent ones, in the future if these lockdowns continue.
I'm not defending these people, but I sure as shit ain't gonna condemn them either. I think that if BLM and Progressive groups can be free to protest out in the streets, then ALL groups should be allowed the same freedoms.
And we're all frustrated about the lockdown, but I didn't see signs about that. All the people on the footage I was watching last night had Trump 2020 flags and 'Stop The Steal' signs. It's certainly what Trump thought the riot was about, since it's all he talked about at the rally and all he tweeted about during the riot, even when he eventually told people to go home. They scheduled it for the 6th because that was the day they were certifying the results of the election.
Everyone is free to protest in the streets, but just as I draw a hard line at property destruction, I draw a harder line at kicking your way into the US Capitol. Even if you're personally there for ha-has, you have no idea if the guy next to you is a crank with an IED, a foreign agent ready to plant surveillance equipment, etc. They provided a possible blueprint for future attacks on high value targets across the nation. It was incredibly reckless and dangerous behavior for a group of people who insist they're the real patriots.
Thanks for a thoughtful reply, it was much better discussion than we got from the other guy.
We'll have to disagree about possible shenanigans in the 2020 election. There actually already have been numerous examples of possible voter fraud in all of those states I've mentioned, not to mention the numerous sworn statements made by folks who worked in some capacity in this election saying that they witnessed fraudulent things taking place. You don't sign a sworn affidavit just because you're a frustrated Trump supporter. Once again, there obviously wasn't enough there to overturn the results, but there's enough there to get any citizen concerned, regardless of political affiliation.
And btw, thank you for not threatening to shoot me because we disagree.
