what a wonderful ted talk, thanks for sharing. i find it sad how tortured people are over their looks. the societal pressure is big sure but the internal insecurites are often even bigger. i have yet to find a femalw who trully loves the way she looks. how sad is that... also - monobrow / bushy brow has such an easy solution Stam And big nose is not a problem at all on men...Look at Dustin Hoffman or Tom Cruise I think women are under a lot more scrutiny than men. It's as if we have an expiration date or a shelf life. We're reminded of that every time we see actors who divorce their wives (or break up with their girlfriends) only to hook up with younger and younger women. Look no further than all the requests to post "hot" photos of women as if our value is only our physical appearance. We've nothing more to offer, and when that well runs dry? It's so sad. Think about the women who are attacked with acid? And here many people complain about simply not being "beautiful enough" when there are so many bigger things going on in the world. As long as we parents raise our boys to worship physicality above all else, this will never end. I know men are visual creatures, but that doesn't mean we can't teach them to expand their mind, or raise our daughters to have greater self-esteem. I love the way Glenda Jackson has let her face age and uses it as an acting tool. If she had been more concerned with the glamorous side of acting her range would have been lessened after plastic surgery.
