I never really got into the drag entertainment thing myself. It is just about caricature and parody of image of femininity, especially when related to superstardom. I love, love, love drag queens with all their built-in camp. There is something about drag queens that comes across as tough and resilient and old-school that I admire so much. And so politically incorrect! The exaggerated and distorted interpretation of feminity is irony at its most sublime. And most queens are very gifted with supplying the sharp comeback!

And I also really like RuPual. I was sort of indifferent to him until I read where he stood up for the controversial comic Shirley Q. Liquor against detractors who said that Miss Liquor was racist and offensive. RuPaul stepped in and said, no and that you have to first understand where the person is coming from before coming to conclusions. And Miss Shirley was coming from a place of love and affection. There is a place of non-judgmental observation. There just HAS to be. Another thing I really like about RuPaul is that she really is her own person and seems very difficult to peg as a liberal or a conservative. My guess is that RuPaul isn't really interested in politics much, anyway.

The sharp and quick witted pithy humour of professional drag Queens is just an inherent aspect of their being. They are born entertainers and comedians. The feminine though, appears so much easier to mock than the masculine, which is better interpreted by a non-drag comedian male I find.

I really don’t know much of Ru Paul to voice an opinion about. He/she would be a part of the US culture of entertainment more. Does Ru identify as male and gay?
