A little delayed, I watched this the other night. Alphaville (1965) Great film by Godard. The B&W cinematography is excellent. Anna Karina and Eddie Constantine both play their parts wonderfully. The eerie computer voice of Alpha 60 that controls Alphaville is sinister and I read that it was voiced by a man with an electronic voice box due to throat cancer. While the film is part sci fi and is supposed to take place in the future on another planet, it's clearly filmed in Paris but with location shots that look mid century modern and there is enough darkness and shadows that it could be a futuristic town ala 1965. I'll leave the interpretation up to others that have already done a much better job than I can, but the film in a way prefigures some of Blade Runners motifs. All in all an excellent film and I give it a 9/10. Probably one of my favorite Godard films so far.
