We all know your mom sucks. You are on an exciting career path in linguistics, so, screw her, she didn't know what she was talking about.

Career welfare recipients sell themselves short because it's not much of a life. They got rid of lifetime welfare in States back in the 90's. SSDI started getting abused instead. I see people on the psych unit all the time who do this.
