years ago my mom said my only career option is welfare

when i was a kid she made fun of white people doing nothing and getting money from the government. she told my aunt i could only be supported with welfare because i was unemployed for a few weeks after finishing community college, when my dad told me not to work during school or else i'd be a bad student. i regret listening to that, of course. now she's been collecting $2k/month since the pandemic started and sees no end in sight and tells me to do the same.
