It was pleasantly surprising how dark Skull Island was with its tone and violence for a PG-13. Like if I would have watched as a kid, say 8-13, there would probably be real moments that scarred/frightened me. The huge bugs, the off-screen kills, etc.

Agreed. I had such a blast at Kong:Skull Island. I feel more relaxed now the director is doing the Metal Gear Solid movie.
