Speaking of Batman & Robin and extreme change in tone and subject matter, Joel Schumacher followed up that movie with 8MM. What I find funny is that he'd made a pretty grounded and intelligent movie about a vigilante right before his Batman with Falling Down. Cut to batnipples and "I'll get drive thru". Well to be fair he was under studio pressure to make the movie more "toy friendly" (he even pretty much apolgoized for this on the director commentary). I still think Forever was worse though (which was just tediously dull). Not sure why Burton didn't return, the Schumacher movies still take place in the same universe.
