I was kind of "let down", the first time I heard the original version of Beauty and the Beast (1991).
I remember when it first arrived on DVD, back when it was re-released along with a VHS copy, in fall of 2002.
So secure that the VHS would still live on, for years to come, I ended up with the tape, not the DVD. And in classic Disney style, they soon snatched the film away again from physical stores, and back into their "vault". And it was not until summer of 2005, when I found the same 2002 copy, but now on DVD.
I had always seen the norwegian version, so it was quite different hearing the english one. Not bad, but the singing part, I always felt were a bit "warmer" sung by Wenche Foss, rather than Angela Lansbury. But then again, nostalgia and sweet memories from the childhood, might have something to do with that as well.
Still, my favorite song/singing from the film, is the Wenche Foss one, called Kjærlighetens Sang:
