IN THE EARTH: a hallucinatory descent into madness & existential dread that would pair well with ANNIHILATION and THE RITUAL, but is still very much it’s own thing. Probably my favorite thing I’ve seen from Ben Wheatley since SIGHTSEERS. #Sundance2021 #Sundance

IN THE EARTH was *wild*. Kept me guessing from start to finish, packed with darkly hilarious violence, trippy visuals, awesome sound design (watch headphones if you can), and sharp performances. My favourite Wheatley film since KILL LIST I think. #Sundance #Sundance2021

In the Earth: My boy Ben Wheatley! Somehow on the trend line with both Kill List and A Field in England, with notes of Event Horizon. Shot under strict quarantine, and the dizzying anxiety of the moment. #Sundance

In The Earth: Ben Wheatley goes back to basics for a trippy folk horror about scientists searching for something ancient in the woods. Plays like the gnarly, nasty, often bewildering, offspring of Kill List and A Field In England. Reece Shearsmith steals it #Sundance

IN THE EARTH is Ben Wheatley's psychedelically violent (violently psychedelic?) return to form. Loved everything about it but particularly the score and sound design. Here's hoping @neonrated can keep this in theaters long enough for me to see it big+loud! #Sundance

I guess now I can say I love IN THE EARTH. Kindred cousin to A FIELD IN ENGLAND, it should be experienced as loud and big as possible to help you get lost in the woods. #Sundance

Lush, violent, and uneven, Ben Wheatley’s In the Earth is Wicker Man by way of Annihilation. Hold onto your toes for this one. #Sundance

IN THE EARTH: Not for me. Gross-out body horror, timely pandemic subject & a (admittedly great) Mansell score does not a good post-apocalyptic movie make. This is subtle for Wheatley but something restrained yet paranoia-soaked like It Comes At Night is more my speed. Woman shrugging#Sundance

IN THE EARTH hurt my brain in the best way possible. It's ANNIHILATION on acid. A disturbing journey into existential dread, it's a psychedelic fever dream, elevated by evocative cinematography and a synth-heavy score from Clint Mansell. Welcome back, Ben Wheatley. #Sundance

In the Earth is a nasty, atmospheric and gripping survival thriller with beautiful cinematography and a really creepy setting. A little long but the performances are strong and it’s got some really effective gore that made me squirm. A return to form for Ben Wheatley #Sundance

Congealed in England. What has happened to the once free-flowing brilliance of Ben Wheatley? The misfires continue with #sundance pic 'In The Earth'.
As far as reviews go:
The Hollywood Reporter was not a fan.
David Ehrlich was.
