I'll do a Mt. Rushmore for this one... Back to the Future Citizen Kane Raiders of the Lost Ark Star Wars Each still in my top 10 all-time. Realizing that looks a mighty cliche list... BTTF - My first ever owned VHS movie, from McDonald's of all places. Also probably my first genuine nostalgic film which is is funny since that's a premise of the movie. CK - I watched one time. Then another upon studying the critical acclaims of Eberts & Maltins. More viewings to follow, my eyes opening more each time. Ebert's DVD commentary was the real enlightenment, laying down the ways CK help pave the future of modern cinema. Now I just plain love the movie. Raiders - My first blockbuster purchase from Columbia House VHS, allowing me re-watches & re-examinations. That showed me the blockbuster likes of Jaws or Terminator were far more than just popcorn. Star Wars - THX VHS box. Re-visiting in full my first time since as a kid watching it in parts from birthday parties as a 5yr old. The art & craft of SW began to shine through, & its place in cinematic lore as well.
