Gronk was made to feel like he was letting the team down if he ever asked for a day off. Belichick gave him a hard time about it. The guy had a million surgeries, played in pain, always gave 100% in every game. There's a reason he retired, and then came out of retirement if it meant playing with Brady and not dealing with Belichick's bullshit.
Arians has said it was Brady who wanted to be aggressive at the end of the first half against the Packers. Imagine the numbers he would've put up with a coach who knew when to let the greatest QB of all time call the shots sometimes. I'm guessing some of those Super Bowls wouldn't have been nail biters.
This season proved you don't need to be a cheapskate, you don't need to be an asshole, you don't need to micromanage, you just need to have great players. Literally everything about Belichick's philosophy was proven false this past season, which totally explains his utter failure throughout his career without Brady.
