His bank account begs to differ and while Godzilla Vs Kong or a face-off remake may not be anyone's idea of upper class etiquette worthy of a gentlemen's club... no director is above doing their job. I can see doing a franchise movie/remake here and there to afford himself more stuff like The Guest, but this is his fifth in a row. And the two that are out weren't very well received. Considering I'm not his lawyer or agent, I don't give a rusty fuck how much money he makes. Well, if you don't give a rusty fuck how much me makes then you shouldn't wonder why he tends to steer himself into big budget movies in the first place. And can you tell me what films you would like him doing more of that wouldn't sound tedious please? Is it the lack of period dramas on his CV that has you all concerned about his future prospects? And the Guest wasn't exactly the height of cinematic sophistication either in fact it was pretty stupid.
