My own personal Mock Draft 1.0 because I find them fun to do.
#1 JAX = Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson
- No brainer.
#2 CAR (Trade) = Zach Wilson QB BYU
- The Panthers seem to be aggressive in terms of a future QB. If they can't land a Watson I think the next logical move is trading up for Wilson.
#3 MIA = DeVonta Smith WR Alabama
- Reunite Tua and Smith. Miami goes forward with Tua next season and gives him every chance to succeed with some familiarity here.
#4 ATL = Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama
- With Wilson gone I'm not sure the Falcons go QB here. I think they believe Ryan is still the guy for now. Surtain helps a lackluster DB group on day one.
#5 CIN = Penei Sewell OT Oregon
- Arguably the best OT in the draft. #1 priority at all costs is to protect Joe Burrow.
#6 PHI = Ja'Marr Chase WR Clemson
- Philly needs offensive weapons and Chase could be the best WR in the draft. People may just forget that since he opted out last season.
#7 DET = Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama
- Detroit will potentially be losing their top 3 WRs in FA in Galloway/Jones/Amendola. I think they could tag Galloway but even so, they need to give Goff some help.
#8 NYJ (via Trade) = Kyle Pitts TE Florida
- Best offensive weapon available imo. I think the Jets give Darnold one more shot with a non idiot head coach. They give him some weapons.
#9 DEN = Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech
- Denver has invested enough in the offense over the years they need it to work. It is help on defense this year and Farley fills a need while also possibly being BPA.
#10 DAL = Rashawn Slater OT Northwestern
- Some may find this interesting but the Oline in Dallas isn't the dominant force it used to be. Smith can't stay healthy. CB is a big need but I think with McCarthy at HC Jones gives him more help on offense to try and convince us it was a good hire.
#11 NYG = Jaelen Phillips EDGE Miami
- Giants could go multiple ways here but I think they take one of the best edge rushers in the draft. No WR is worth this slot imo.
#12 SF = Trey Lance QB North Dakota St.
- Some may disagree but I think the 49ers are ready to move on from Jimmy after 2021. Let Trey Lance sit for 2021 and take the huddle in 2022 as the future. This also affords the 9ers to retain key FA's like Kittle while Lance is on a rookie contract.
#13 LAC = Christian Darrisaw OT Virginia Tech
- Much like Burrow with Cindy. LA needs to protect Herbert at all costs.
#14 WAS (Trade) = Justin Fields QB Ohio St.
- Washington trades up as imo they are possibly a QB away from being real contenders. They have some solid weapons and a top level defense.
#15 NE = Mac Jones QB Alabama
- I doubt this happens but imo it just makes too much sense. NE needs a QB and unless they go the Marcus Mariotta route I think they draft one. Belichick with his connection to Saban seems like he would know more about Jones than anyone.
#16 ARI = Gregory Rousseau EDGE Miami
- Arizona could go multiple ways here as well. Imo no CB is worth this spot. Rousseau was a thought for the Giants at 11 but from what I hear/read is he may not be a day 1 starter but could develop as the best pass rusher because of his traits.
#17 LV = Daviyon Nixon DL Iowa
- This may be a homer pick for me but I LOVE Nixon. He is an amazing athlete for 6'3 305 LBs. He can dunk a basketball and shows incredible instincts around the ball. Just watch his 70 yard pick six against Penn State.
#18 MIA = Dillon Radunz OT North Dakota St.
- Miami got Tua a weapon earlier now they get him protection. Radunz may be underrated because his small school. In 2019 he gave up zero sacks.
#19 MIN (via Trade) = Alijah Vera-Tucker OL USC
- Vikings trade down to get more picks and take a need in Tucker. He is likely a Guard in the NFL but the Vikings could use the help at OL where they can get it.
#20 CHI = Jalen Mayfield OT Michigan
- Another NFC North team in need of offensive line help. Mayfield is a solid RT prospect whose claim to fame in college was handling Chase Young. Might not be a stud but he is a starter.
#21 IND = Teven Jenkins OT Oklahoma St.
- Indy goes OT in an attempt to help provide Wentz the provided time he needs to find a WR or TE to catch the ball.
#22 TEN = Kwity Paye EDGE Michigan
- Vrabel said that he wants a large pass rusher. Well, Paye is 6'4 and 277 lbs. You can't teach that.
#23 NYJ = Kadarius Toney WR Florida
- Another weapon for Sam Darnold here. Under the new Mike Lafleur offense they need a YAC receiver in the likes of Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel in SF.
#24 PIT = Najee Harris RB Alabama
- PIT could go OL here but I dont think one falls to them and I think the rest are a reach. Najee Harris would be a big weapon for a team that needs to get back to a running game imo.
#25 JAX = Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina
- Jaguars could use a lot here. I just think that CB is the more valuable position to take at this spot. Jaycee Horn son of former Saints WR Joe Horn has the bloodlines to him, for what that is worth.
#26 CLE = Micah Parsons LB Penn State
- Micah Parsons is BPA here. I think he falls unless his off field things get cleared up. Cleveland has shown the willingness to take chances on guys like this.
#27 BAL = Rashod Bateman WR Minnesota
- Baltimore needs a bigger receiving target for Lamar Jackson and Dez Bryant wasn't it.
#28 NO = Trevon Moehrig S TCU
- Marcus Williams is a FA and it leaves a hole at Safety. Moehrig is also imo BPA at this time.
#29 GB = Greg Newsome CB Northwestern
- Packers possibly reach here but Newsome would fill a huge need right away as Kevin King is out the door.
#30 BUF = Travis Etienne RB Clemson
- What better way to help Josh Allen than by getting a running game going so he doesn't have to do it all?
#31 KC = Landon Dickerson C Alabama
- After that Super Bowl performance the Oline showed to be a weakness. IOL is a need and Dickerson is the best Center in the draft but injuries are a concern.
#32 TB = Zaven Collins LB Tulsa
- Lavonte David imo leaves in FA. Collins would excell in Bowles defense as a cover LB who can rush the passer. He would be scary on blitzes.
#1 JAX = Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson
- No brainer.
