I totally relate, spiderwort, I'm largely unfamiliar too. It's hard to find her film work outside of French language archives to be honest, though youtube remains a constant source of filmic inspiration for everything.
There's some wonderful pictures of her in character at wikipedia, I think mostly taken of her stage work in Paris; she was an early-age chameleon to say the least, really reminds me of Glenn Close in a way, due to visual indications of her range, intelligence, allure, and transformations.
